 Rockwell Goss Community
Eight unit web offset litho newspaper press including four
colour tower. Single width print unit prints blanket
to blanket. Integral reel stand. Web width 890mm, cut-off
578mm. Running five webs into a basic community folder
in one run gives a 40 page tabloid newspaper including
eight full colour pages at about 14,000 copies per hour.
Unit construction makes it easy to expand
and alter the configuration of this press to meet changing
production
needs. Used to print The Shetland Times newspaper,
Shetland Life and any other newsprint products. The folder
and
three units were installed in 1980 when The Shetland
Times moved from letterpress to web offset litho printing
and additional units have been installed to meet demand
for increased pagination. Komori S29
Five-colour B2 press. Maximum sheet size of 530mm x 750mm,.
Maximum image area of 520mm x 740mm, gripper margin of
8-10mm. Can reach speeds of up to 16000 sheets per hour.
CTP enabled and running alcohol free.
Heidelberg GTO 52
Single colour press. Maximum sheet size of 360mm x 520mm,
smallest sheet straight printing 105mm x 180mm. Maximum
image area of 340mm x 505mm, gripper margin of 8-10mm.
Maximum speed of 8000 sheets per hour. Efficient for
all kinds of job printing in small and medium runs, and
prints stock of all thickness from 0.04 to 0.3mm board.
Numbering, perforating and scoring attachments.
Heidelberg Printmaster
Two-colour press. Maximum sheet size of 460mm x 340mm,
smallest sheet size of 100mm x 100mm. Maximum speed of
10,000 sheets per hour. Efficient for all kinds of job
printing in small and medium runs, and prints stock of
all thickness from onion skin to 0.4mm board. Numbering,
perforating and scoring attachments.
Heidelberg KORD
Single colour A2 press. Maximum sheet size of 460mm x 640mm,
minimum sheet size of 140mm x 180mm. Maximum image area
of 450mm x 640mm. Gripper margin of 8-10mm. Maximum speed
of 6000 sheets per hour.
Heidelberg Platen
The oldest press
in the building. A small letterpress machine mainly used
for cutting and creasing.
Maximum sheet size 10" x 15".
